The situation is bad!!

Impact of the Pandemic

We all know it, and no one knows what would happen next. This pandemic, Novel Coronavirus Disease or known as COVID-19, has gripped the whole world in its clutches.

There are many speculations of how it generated from a wet market in the Wuhan City of China. It came into the news in December 2019, but no one knew that it would come to the present situation.

After that, as the cases started increasing, people came to know about the seriousness of the virus and taking all the measures to fight back it.

What’s happening now?

According to the latest data by Statista on March 21st, there have been around 277055 registered cases of this disease around the world. This type of data naturally creates panic in everyone’s mind.

But, the important thing to remember is that instead of panicking, we must try taking all measures to take care of it and lessen it by taking preventive measures, staying informed about the situation and most importantly, avoid rumours!!

It is said that the spreading of this virus has aggravated because people didn’t take it seriously at the beginning and kept travelling. Due to the travelling and the severity of the virus, it got transmitted to the whole world and is continuing to be. But, no one knew that it would come to this present situation and ignored the gravity of the situation.

The situation in India

India registered its first COVID-19 positive case on January 2020 in Kerela and since then, the count has come to 315, and the cases have started increasing in many states. The effect of this virus is severe in European countries like Spain, Italy, London and as people travel from there to India, there are very high chances of them, contracting it. And as this virus is extremely contractable, it gets transmitted very fast from human to human by a simple cough, sneeze or touch.

Our country has now taken extensive measures for this and has started making many changes in sanitization, travel bans, self-isolation and more.

The doctors are keeping up the people updated with the latest information of this and admitting anyone who shows symptoms like flu or cough and getting them quarantined. It is of the most advisable ways, not to contract the disease, and if there is some effect, due to the care taken at home, it may get lessened.

For check-ups, hospitals have made necessary arrangements and checking patients through thermal scanners.

Some of the advice that would help are:

1. To keep oneself perfectly sanitized by cleaning hands with soap/alcohol-based solution and clean it for 25 seconds minimum.

2. One must avoid touching eyes, nose, mouth etc. as the virus can easily get transmitted.

3. Avoid coming out of the house in most of the situations. Only do that when necessary. Schools, colleges and offices are closed down, and people have started working from home. Social gatherings should be avoided, as much as possible.

4. Anyone feels like coughing and sneezing or has a fever that isn’t decreasing, should immediately get themselves checked and stay and home.

Also, as the PM announced, people would be participating, a one of a kind event, ‘Janata Curfew’ is the beginning of the long battle against Coronavirus, that would take place from one’s own home. It would be a curfew kind of, but it’s one of the most significant measures people can follow.

Also, all the public places are being sanitized regularly and trying to avoid the spread of disease.

Visakhapatnam’s Situation

Vizag has also been going through tough times in the light of this disease. The first positive case of this virus was reported on 19th March, where a 65 yr older man returning from Mecca didn’t pay attention and was tested positive.

As soon as this happened, the whole area he lived was locked down, and people weren’t allowed to pass from there. It was then sanitized, and the person has been kept under isolation and observed.

Everyone is taking steps to lower the spread of the disease and only when we work together in such situations; we can help each other and gain the strength to fight back such diseases.
